Kay Gardner

(February 8, 1940 - August 28, 2002)

Portrait of Kay Gardner.

“Kay Gardner was a multifaceted performer, producer, and a true visionary.  She was a seed planter for creativity that inspired countless women to the joy and healing power of music.  She was also a friend, mother, grandmother, and beloved partner to Colleen Fitzgerald.  There is no one who could ever replace her.  The musical legacy of what she leaves behind will continue to inspire us, and the powerful woman she was will continue to be cherished and remembered.”

NEWS FLASH! Our fundraising is over and we have been able to award tickets, most of them six-day tickets, to ELEVEN womyn! We hear to our delight that our efforts have also prompted some other, informal "award" programs in our community. Many thanks to all who have contributed in so many ways.

We are a not-for-profit scholarship program, collecting money to assist womyn in the Greater Lansing, Michigan area to attend the 30th annual Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival.

We aim to raise money to purchase as many tickets as possible for womyn who would not otherwise be able to afford to attend. The number of womyn we help send to Michigan will be determined by the amount of money you help us raise.

By making the festival more economically accessible, we increase the number and diversity of womyn at the festival.  Your donation benefits both the festival and the womyn who get to go!

For the time being, we're leaving our site up to document our efforts and to let everyone know the outcome, but we are not presently accepting donations or applications. Here's a recap of some of our events, with pictures.
